Marta Czok

Since graduating from St Martin's School of Art, Marta has regularly taken part in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions. She has also received commissions for Pope John Paul II, the French Emissary to the Holy See and Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

For Marta, the world is divided into two categories. The first comprises the “great and the good” and the second consists of “lesser” mortals i.e. the so-called “dust on the wheels of history”. Being born in a refugee camp she regards herself as belonging to the latter category. Being a veritable outsider she has a clearer microscopic and macroscopic vision of the world and that’s a huge advantage for nothing and no one is taken for granted, not even nationality, language let alone residence and, above all, the “wisdom” of the “great and the good”.

Needless to say she does not go for painting “landscapes of the mind” nor tragedies as life far too short. A good pinch of satire is her thing and she's devilishly good at.
